Colorado Trip Day 3 Part 2

After the zoo we went back to the vacation house in Divide. Speaking of the vacation home, Leah wanted to see pictures. Can you believe that I really did not take any pictures of where we stayed? If you click here you can see lots of pictures through the rental site.

That evening, Jeremy and I drove back to Colorado Springs so I could meet Meredith (thanks mom and dad for watching the boys for us). She suggested we meet at Agia Sophia, it was this really cool (and peaceful) coffeehouse where they had the best vanilla latte I have ever had (Meredith said the Chai was good too) . We arrived at 7:30 and stayed until they closed at 10:00. Meredith is the first "blog friend" I have ever met and it was a great experience. She is such a sweet girl and our conversation flowed so freely - it was nice to know each other's background because it felt like two friends chatting and reconnecting. We talked about our families, our blogs and our favorite things - we could have gone on longer but they were ready to close. What a fun night! Meredith if you are ever in my area please give me a call - I'd love to see you again. :o) Also, I hope you get a new computer soon because I miss reading your blog.

Happy Birthday!!

I love this picture! It was taken after her precious baby girl was born.

Leah Belle and I met in June of 1992 at Glorieta Conference Center, we were there to work in the Preschool area as summer staffers. We enjoyed exploring Santa Fe, hiking, shopping, sun bathing, trips to Albuquerque and eating Mexican food with all our new friends that we made that summer. We all went back to our Universities, but decided to return to Glorieta for a second summer in 1993. I probably have Leah to thank that Jeremy and I are married today (remember the writing in the sand?). After our 2nd summer, we became roommates with our friend Janell in an apartment in Fort Worth. I have so many wonderful memories while living with the girls - what a great time in my life.

16 years, 2 weddings and 5 children later - Leah is still one of my very dearest friends. Sadly we have not seen each other in years, but we have kept in touch through emails, phone calls and now our blogs (thanks Leah for introducing me to blogging). Maybe someday we can take a Sisterchicks' trip together! Happy Birthday my sweet friend! Love Ya!!

Smile in the Mail

Don't you just love getting snail mail from friends? I do! I used to write letters and send notes all the time before email, but since that day in '97 when I got my first dial up AOL account - I really now only send special occasion cards. So Friday when I checked the mail and saw a hand addressed envelope it instantly brought a smile to my face. Here is what I found.

It was a sweet note from Karen. She and my friend Amy are so good at sending cards in the mail for no other reason than just because. I want to send more mail to family and friends, so I am challenging myself to get better at sending notes. So thank you Karen for the fun surprise.

On another note...
Saturday night Jeremy and I were talking about the Chapman's day. I checked their family blog roll and found Steven's managers blog. Jim shares his encounters with the family since the tragedy. He talks about the visitation and also gives a recap of the memorial service (click links to read his thoughts). You can read all of Jim's other posts starting here relating to Maria. Now that the service is over, the family can use our prayers more than ever as the grieving process begins. Please also remember their precious boy in your prayers that God will carry him through this time of healing in his life.

Enjoy your day with your family tomorrow.
