"Random-ness"

In the blog world there are a multitude of awards that people can give you. My friend Leah gave me my first one a couple of days ago (thanks). Leah was given the award by Nan, who added her own creative touches and remade the award button.

Leah and I have been friends since '92; we met at Glorieta. We hit it off right away and became great friends. After returning to Glorieta in '93 for our second summer we decided to share an apartment together once the summer ended (w/ Janell too). Leah was also my maid of honor in our wedding. It has been almost 12 years since we have lived in the same state, but she is still one of my best friends. We have kept in touch over the years, but I love that she started her blog because now I feel like I can keep up with her day to day life (thanks for inspiring me to start mine). Just for fun here is a picture of us from '94. Love ya Leah Belle!

So now I am supposed to pass this on to someone. I give it to Karen, who I have been friends with for 7 years (another person who inspired me to start blogging). Karen and I met through a small group at church. She is one of the nicest people I know and I am glad to call her my friend. She is also one of my friends who let's me copy her ideas for making handmade gifts and cards. I always have so much fun with her when we get together. Here is a picture of one of her amazing creations (that is Karen and her beautiful little girl).

Speaking of Karen, I found this clip on her blog and she was nice enough to let me post it here. Kids are so funny!

Just for fun for all you bloggers out there. How addicted are you? Take the quiz and find out.

My Little Salesman

It was after lunch today and my oldest called me to come into the living room. He and his younger brother had re-arranged the chairs and brought the cushions from the family room and other various things to create a "rest area". He knew that I was going to make him "rest" in his room while his brothers napped - it is not his favorite thing to do, but to be honest, I have him go in his room so I can have a break from kiddos for a little while.

So this is what I saw when I walked into the room.

He went into his pitch, trying to persuade me to let this be their room today for rest time. He said they could sit in the chairs to read.

Side Note--Today he started chewing this piece of gum. He has decided to start going for the world record for chewing the same piece of gum for the longest time. :o)

Then when they got tired they could move to the bed.
The pitch was suddenly interrupted, by his brother, who starting a wrestling match.

He was very proud because he won.
He is very imaginative and creative and always amazes us with the things he comes up with! His sales pitch worked because while his brothers took their naps he got to do his own thing.

Making Soup

Yesterday my middle son was "busy' in the kitchen. I went to check on him and he was getting pots, ingredients, can opener, spoons and an apron out - so of course, I had to get my camera out. Our youngest has become his shadow so he had to get in on the action. I asked him what he was making and he said warm soup.

There is such a difference in a 3 year old and a 7 year old. While the younger one was content pretending to make soup, that was too boring for his big brother. When he got home from school, his little brother told him he had made soup while he was at school. So the oldest decided they needed to make REAL soup. I did not know what they were doing until they came in with their mugs of soup offering me a drink. I decided to pass on their inventive creation, but thought I would share the recipe with you.

5 cups water
2 cups crushed ice
pinch of salt
sprinkle of sugar
1/2 lemon (juiced)
1/2 tbsp maple syrup
Use the biggest pot you can find (one mom has to wash by hand) and add ingredients in order. Stir together and place on a cold stove for a few seconds. Pour in cups and drink.

These are the things I cherish and store away. :o)

The Time is Here!

Too Funny!! Who would ever pay $50 for a potty? We are in the season of potty training again at our house. Why isn't there a camp you can send them to - let someone else does this job? This time around with boy #2, I started reading him books about using the potty at 2.5 and sitting on the potty every now and then; I decided to be laid back with my approach until he turned 3 (big brother was not PT till 3). No action in the potty yet, but he's been very successful going in his Pull Up!! I know I need to be patient, but I am dreaming of the day where I am only changing one child's diapers!!! :o) Please feel free to leave me any tips that you might have-- I would REALLY appreciate it!

Do you think I am taking too many pictures? While typing, I heard my middle son say, "Mom, get the camera, this is cute".

One last thing--
My friend (thanks Julie!) told me yesterday that you can pre-buy Steven Curtis Chapman's new CD. Once you have ordered it, you will be sent a link where you can listen to the whole album until you receive your copy. If you are a dad with a little girl you will really appreciate "Cinderella" and all you moms will like "One Heartbeat". I think the CD is great, but being a fan since 1988, I may be a little biased. You can go here to buy a copy.
