Praying for Friends...

This is my first WFMW to participate in, if you are not aware of what this is, you can learn more at Rocks in my Dryer. Since Shannon is in Uganda this week, Melanie at Don't Try this at Home is guest hosting.
Not sure what to do with these after Christmas? Here is an idea that I received from a friend several years ago.

After the holidays are over take the Christmas cards you received and put them in a basket (she keeps her basket in the kitchen). Each week have your children draw one or two cards out of the basket and then put the card(s) on your refrigerator. During the week pray as a family (they do it at breakfast) for the family. What a great way to teach your children to pray for others! Then at the end of the week, my friend would send a card to the family letting them know that her family prayed for them all week. Let me tell you the first time I received a card in the mail from them it made my day. What an unexpected treat to know that you are being lifted up in prayer.

I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3

This is actually really similar to the idea that I just gave for WFMW!! Love the idea of praying for a different family each week! Great idea!! BTW, I love your blog header with your pics. Too cute!

This is a wonderful idea! The reminder of choosing a different family each week would also serve as a reminder to keep in touch. Maybe combine prayer for that week with an email, letter or phone call?

Jenn...thanks for sharing this idea!

We've actually been choosing 5 cards each week during family devotion time and praying for those families. We haven't made a dent in our pile of cards, and we got 2 more (Christmas!) cards in the mail this week. I anticipate being finished by November--ha!
