We left my parent's house and drove to Lubbock; that evening we had dinner with Troy (another one of Jeremy's college roommates) and Kim. It was nice catching up and meeting their new little one. The boys had a great time playing with their kids in their beautiful backyard (would have been a great photo opportunity-I'll learn). Thanks for letting Longhorn fans in your house! ;o) It was wonderful to see you.
The next day we went to the Science Spectrum, the boys had a lot of fun. Thanks Kim for going with us.
Our last stop before our trek home was in Slaton - my family lived there from 89-92. I wanted to show Jeremy and the kids around so we ate at Pizza Hut and drove by my dad’s old church, our house and other places I wanted to share with them (again no pics--so frustrating). We stopped at the Slaton Bakery for goodies for the road. They have the BEST thumbprint cookies-- yummy! It has been 15 years since I have been there, but it is funny how going back floods you with memories. It makes me think of friends and wonder where they are today. I am hoping to reconnect with some of them.
We are glad to be home-- now time to get ready for school to start!

The memories do flood back! I have been back a few times and we stop and get thumb print cookies. My girls ask every ashtime if we can stop. I can't believe how much the bakery has changed and even downtown. But the rest of the town looks the same. We drove past our old house and it looks so small...
Jenn, Your post has a link to the Slaton Bakery! That is so cool. Their website says they now ship Thumbprint cookies!!!!!!!!! That could be dangerous!
I know -- I was so excited to read that!! I have never found cookies like that anywhere else.
