Colorado Vacation Day 1 & 2

We left home on Friday afternoon (7/25) for my parents and finally got to their house at midnight. We gave the kids a day out of the car and just hang out at my parents and relaxed on Saturday.

My two oldest boys really like animals but the baby loves them. Here he is making friends with Jack.
On Sunday we left my parents house for our road trip to Colorado. Thanks to my friend Ivey's luggage carrier (that we borrowed) we were able to all ride in one car. I have not been on a road trip with my parents since I was in high school so it was fun having time to visit with them. The baby sat between my mom and I - when he would get fussy the adults in the car were subjected to listening to a Wiggles CD - that was the ONLY thing that would calm him down.
The older two were set up in the third seat with their entertainment system (dvds, cds, and DS) - boy do they have the life when traveling! Remember the days of road trips with your family? In my family the three of us had the backseat of the car - no room to spread out - no entertainment - we could not even read because we would get car sick - so what did that leave for us to do - fight! But I have to admit as a parent I am thankful they have these things to help keep the peace. We stopped in Raton Pass, New Mexico for lunch for "New Mexican" food. The boys (and the adults) were happy to be out of the car. The little place we ate at had the best sopapillas I have ever had - yum.
After lunch we continued our journey to Colorado Springs. My dad and Jeremy were so cute when they saw the mountains - they were giddy.
We arrived at the vacation house (in Divide) around dinner time. After putting the boys to bed (notice that the youngest two are wearing footy PJs in July) Jeremy and I went to Woodland Park to buy groceries.
I wish I had taken a picture (Leah did you?) because y'all, Woodland Park has the most gorgeous Wal*mart we had ever seen. It was sitting at the base of the mountain and the building looked like a ski lodge. We must have been the only ones impressed with it because I tried to find a pictures (on-line) to show you but no luck.

That is it for day one and two - tomorrow the zoo.

Glad to see you are back. Your pics are great. I hope to catch up soon. I have my first 3 hours alone tomorrow while all 3 of my kids are in school. Jonah will go to 3- year old preschool from 8:30-11:30. I can't wait to see what I can accomplish. Maybe some blogging... Great to have you back. Love ya!

You make me miss my adopted home state! Cute pictures. Could you and your mom look any more alike? I think not. For my kids it wasn't Wiggles--it was Barney when they were that age. I think it's a toss up as to which is worse. :O)
