Colorado Trip Day 3 Pt 1

First I need to thank Meredith and Leah, all the information they shared with me helped me plan a great trip. Thanks girls!

As I said, we stayed in Divide while we were in Colorado. If you plan to spend most of your time in Colorado Springs (like we did) I would not recommend staying that far away (the drive was gorgeous though). The place we stayed would be perfect for a family trip at Christmas where you are planning to just stay at the vacation home most of the time. I think next time (and there will be a next time as we loved Colorado Springs) we will stay in Woodland Park or Manitou Springs because it would cut down on the driving time.

On Monday (28th) we spent most of the day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It is the best zoo I have ever been to (I have never been to the San Diego Zoo) - I loved the animals and the elevation of the zoo. Here are some pictures of our time there.

He was so good at the zoo! As long as we were pushing he was happy. He was playing with his brothers hat and this is how he put it on so of course I had to take a picture.
I had to include this picture of my parents. What an example they are - after 36 years of marriage they still hold hands - love it!

I have never been this close to a giraffe before! It was so amazing to feed a giraffe and to feel its rough tongue lick my hand. Probably my favorite exhibit at the zoo.

Here they are riding the tram up the elevation to the Rocky Mountain exhibit. I really enjoyed this exhibit because there were many animals I had never seen in person before.
I was mesmerized by this moose because I had only seen them on TV. My boys recited If You Give a Moose a Muffin - they thought they were so funny ( I did too!).

In the Rocky Mountain Exhibit they had pony rides. My dad paid for the boys to ride and these city boys thought it was so fun.
What a good big brother!
Hanging with dad after lunch.
This little guy made us sad. He just stared at us like this the whole time - I wanted to take him home with me. So if you go to this zoo - just skip this area - all the other animals were in their happy place.
The oldest boys went on the Sky Ride with their dad. The rest of us went shopping for souvenir t-shirts.
Saying goodbye to the zoo - we had a fun day!
Before we left the zoo we drove up to the Will Rogers Shrine. This picture is the view from the zoo.
At the top...
Looking down on the Broadmoor Hotel and Golf Courses.
The furthest mountain in the picture is Pikes Peak. Stay tuned for part 2 of our third day on vacation.

Oh, Little Gorilla makes me sad, too! But the other pictures are more fun, you're right.

The Broadmoor is so pretty. I remember singing there at a competition with my 7th or 8th grade choir and then playing there in 9th grade band. Also, Big and I have stayed a weekend there a couple of times.

Lurrve the picture of your folks holding hands. So sweet. Only 18 more years and we'll be married for 36. Wonder if it'll go as fast as the first 18.

Wow...we're not zoo fans but that makes me want to go. Elliya will probably only go to the zoo on a field trip, poor child.

Your boys and their hats...to cute!
