Jeremy and I are planning a getaway for the two of us this summer. We are planning to be gone 4 days and 3 nights. The goal of this trip - to rejuvenate and relax. Here is our short list. I have never been to California - Jeremy has been here several times. I thought if we went to San Diego (Jeremy has been to SD on business), we could drive down the Pacific Coast Highway (get a convertible?), maybe go to LA for the day (or not) and just walk around the city. We both agree about visiting San Diego.
Washington, DC is on Jeremy's list. I have always wanted to visit DC, but when I think about relaxing this does not make the list. I do not want to fill up our days with morning till evening sightseeing.
We both have San Fransisco on our lists. Jeremy has been here for work and in high school. He thinks I would like it.
Seattle is on my list. We went here once for Jeremy to audition at the University of Washington (for Grad. school). He has been back for business a couple of times. I have always wanted to go back, because I loved it. I thought we could take a ferry to Victoria Island because I have always wanted to go to Canada as well.
I have mentioned here before how much we love New York City! I am always up for a trip there, but again the theme of this trip is relaxation. NYC is exciting and full of energy, we do lots of walking, shopping and theater - I think we will be pooped by the time we get home - not rejuvenated. NYC is sorta on both of our list because well it's New York.
So if you had a say in our trip planning, after reading this post, where would you send us?

I say Seattle or Cali. D.C. is definitely a sight seeing trip. One time when we went to visit my parents Xavier spent two whole days sight seeing. He loved it, I stayed home! You might enjoy it but it wouldn't fit your criteria of relaxing.
Selfishly I would send you to CO because I want to see you and CO has many great places to get away and relax. However, I know you really enjoyed your Honeymoon trip to AR years ago and I can't imagine there is much to do in AR. However, of your real list, I vote Seattle. I too have never been there, but have had a friend go last year and she said it was fun, relaxing and gorgeous. Plus, I like you, have always wanted to go to Canada.
seven words....
I LIVE ONE HOUR FROM SAN DIEGO.
'nuff said.
although, all of your trips sound fun... and I really enjoyed seattle last year,
BUT I WOULD FREAK RIGHT OUT IF YOU WERE IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS!!!!
Well, being a Canadian girl, I would have to vote for Vancouver Island and Seattle! I have been to Victoria a few times, once on our honeymoon- it is a pretty place to walk around. The ferry scenery is amazing as well, though I haven't been on the one from Washinton to Victoria. I am sure the other places would have cool things to do too. I absolutely understand about wanting to relax without the pressure of all day sightseeing. I have been eyeing up a bed and breakfast in a funky little community about 15 minutes away, thinking it would be nice for a getaway for hubby and I. We could relax, take leisurely strolls, but not feel pressured to to do touristy stuff.
San Francisco is fabulous! I didn't get to really vacation there, as I was a bit north of there, but we did go into the city and it is really nice. The piers are cool and the shopping is really nice. What a great thing you two are doing. I might need to think about a trip for two :*)
Ummm...why is Colorado not on your list??? It is fabulous in the summertime. Nice and cool and NO humidity. I think Estes Park would be wonderful for you two.
San Diego would be my second choice. Go to LaJolla Beach, a Padres game, drive the Pacific Coast Highway, and just soak up the sun. There's also some really great mexican food there too! And seafood too. Vacations for me are all about the food. :)
Mer & Amy- We actually are thinking about CO, but as a family trip later in the summer. We thought we could spend a few days with my parents out there and then on the way back. We will keep you posted. :o)
Everyone - Thank you for your opinions about our trip! We hope to decide soon - I'll let you know.
Seattle! The weather is so nice in the summer, even if it rains.
