Spring Break is here! Yesterday was the promised "veg" day that my eight year old requested - he did not want to do anything - just hang out. I did get him to accomplish one thing - cleaning his room. He did a fantastic job, it was hard work because his room was very scary.
Yesterday I spent the day (between the diaper changes, refereeing and other mom stuff) researching our mini getaway. I know you are thinking "isn't it a little late to start planning now"? Well yes, it was a bit of a challenge to find a place at such short notice, but we were able to find a house to rent by a lake in beautiful East Texas. Have I said before how much I enjoy preparing for a trip? It is so much fun for me to learn about the towns, find stuff to do and read restaurant reviews. I enjoy scheduled vacations where we have ideas of what we can do every minute while away. We can do as little or as much of the stuff I plan, but I like options. I can not stand to drive aimlessly looking for places to eat and then chancing that it will be good - doing the research is key (for me) to ensure a stress free and relaxing trip. Aah - I love it!
Today is one of my favorite kind of days - it is raining. The sound of falling rain is peaceful and it refreshes me. I love to curl up under a blanket near a window with a good book or a chick flick. Sometimes I think I would like to move to Seattle, it is so green due to the wonderful rain and who would not enjoy the bonuses of the little coffee shops on every corner and having Pike Place Market to explore. I wonder, would I get tired of the rain and all the cloudy days? Jeremy thinks so, but I think it would be fun to have a chance to find out. :o)
Jeremy's time off begins Wednesday so my goal today is to get all the house stuff done today so all we will have to do is pack tomorrow. Since I can not curl up with a blanket, I think I will turn on one of my favorite chick flicks while I get the laundry done. Maybe I will watch Sleepless in Seattle.

I love Sleepless in Seattle, but I think all that rain would leave me depressed all the time!
Enjoy your fun getaway! Our spring break is next week and we don't have anything planned. Like your son, I'm looking forward to having nowhere to go and nothing to do. That is bliss for me!
Time on the lake sounds fun! I hope you all have a wonderful time!
I've thought the same thing about Seattle. It's definitely on my list of places to visit.
Have fun on your little getaway!
When I visited Seattle, it rained every day. Every day I would say out loud, "I totally think I could do this! I totally think I could live here!" .....and then someone would tell me I am crazy. I dunno. Let's run away and visit Gretchen (from Good Enough for Now) & see!
